The Allanton Inn has made an immediate impression on the competition and won the restricted access category. The restaurant opens during normal bar opening times and concentrates on good wholesome food using local produce.
Paying tribute to their chef Mark Poole for helping to take the top prize in their section, Charles said "When you come to the Allanton Inn you will find locals eating here and that's how we like it"

The traditional village coaching inn has always possessed charm, but this has now been further enhanced to create a thoroughly welcoming ambience for those who have certain expectations when it come to choosing an atmospheric country pub in which to eat and drink.
People from all over the Borders... have now cottoned on to the fact that there's a lot worth exploring on the Allanton Inn's menu and on the enterprising wine list. Chef Mark Poole has shown tremendous flair and imagination... fresh lobster from St. Abbs, fish from Eyemouth, locally produced vegetables from horticultural genius Betty Snow's organic garden in nearby Preston, steak... guinea fowl, Gressingham duck, roast aubergine and sun blush tomatoes...
