Second only to the skill and originality of our Kitchen Team, is the sourcing of local Borders’ produce. The Borders is rich in a wide variety of produce from local land and waters and we are proud of our connections with local farmers where quality is allied to best farming practices.
Local farmer, butcher & friend, Adam, supplies our pork products from Reivers Foods. Other meat and poultry comes from local and Scottish suppliers, including organic meat products from award winning Peelham Farm. Our friendly local farmer David delivers us organic, free range eggs, freshly laid from his chickens two miles away at Edington Mains, and we are great fans of honey from the Robson family at the Chain Bridge Honey Farm.
The fresh fish we use is caught or landed locally at Eyemouth and delivered daily by our chatty fishmonger, Ross.
We make our own bread daily and have a good selection of Scottish Cheeses to choose from.
Our desserts are all home-made although we do source the best ice cream (award winning!) from Giacopazzis in Eyemouth.
We believe that the quality of our produce and the skills in the kitchen provide the basis for interesting menus, often offering that something a little bit different; we are confident that the Allanton Inn gives a new opportunity for eating and showcasing the good food in the Borders.
As all our dishes are freshly made on the premises we can accommodate any dietary requirements – we will endeavour to meet every need of our guests.
We have daily blackboard specials in addition to the regularly changing menu and we also have a set menu for this Christmas and a menu available for Hogmanay. The bar leads into two dining areas and out to the beer garden. One of the dining areas is available for private dining accommodating up to 15 people; personalised menus can be arranged. This is a perfect venue for shoot dinners, celebrations and family gatherings.
In the summer months particularly, we love being able to showcase the fabulous Scottish seafood by offering our popular seafood platters. With advance booking, you can be guaranteed to enjoy this wonderful dish all year round.
Children are always welcome here, and in addition to our children’s menu, dishes from the main menu are available in smaller portions. On warmer days dining in the enclosed beer garden is a treat and if we get some summer sun. You can use this great space just to soak up the sun, rolling countryside and unwind.
In the winter months when game is available, we utilise the abundance of local game and offer dishes including wood pigeon, pheasant, venison, hare and rabbit. On Sundays, we always have a Sunday Roast on the menu served with all the trimmings.
